Molepolole, Kweneng District
Molepolole is an urban village located approximately 50 kilometers west of the capital city, Gaborone, and is the gateway to exploring Khutse Game Reserve and the world-renowned Central Kalahari Game Reserve. It is one of Botswana's largest villages and is considered one of the largest traditional villages in Africa, with a population exceeding 73,000 inhabitants (per the 2011 census). Molepolole is commonly considered as the administrative capital of the Kweneng District, due to its extensive developments and infrastructure. Molepolole is an easy commute from Gaborone, via the main A12 highway and comprises of a variety of residential properties, commercial and industrial business centres, shopping malls and centres with renowned local and international retailers, banking facilities, religious centres, private and government educational facilities such as Kweneng International Secondary School, Molepolole College of Education and the Molepolole National Library, hospitals/ health facilities such as the Scottish Livingstone Hospital as well as a variety of leisure facilities and historical sites/ places of interest such as the Kgosi Sechele I Museum and the Molepolole Sports Complex.
